We know how difficult times have been of late, we've experienced it first hand and so ShopAround was born to address this issue. 🏡 Home page breakdown
The home page acts as the hub for all your searching. In order of appearance, lets define what each sections does:
- At the top of the home page a search bar can be found. (see How to search for products to learn how to use)
- Beneath the search bar product categories can be found - when clicked they'll immediately search that category within the general search
- Our row of promotions appears next, this area is reserved for anything promotional
- The create a list space is next, which is where all created lists will appear
- Finally we display recommended products
📝 How to create a new list on ShopAround
Creating lists and comparing the prices of your shopping is the core of ShopAround so follow the steps below to easily create your very first list with us:
- On the homepage, tap create first list
- In the top left corner of the application you'll see something like 'new list' along with the date which you can tap to rename your list
✔️ How to Add Items to a list
- At the bottom of the screen, you'll see a blue
Add Item button - tap it to open the product selection modal - Tap the product search bar and enter the name of a product you want to add to the list
- Once a product has been entered, you can directly select the specific item you want by tapping on an item. When tapped you'll notice a numerical value display at the top of the which indicates how many items you're adding to your list
- Additionally, you are able to sort the products by special or price, found in the sorting bar at the bottom of the page, or by tapping the filters dropdown in the top right corner to select which grocers you'd like to display products for
- Once all your items have been added, tap the
Check in the top right corner of the modal to add all the items to your list - You'll notice if an item is cheaper the product price will be highlighted in either green or red depending on the grocer
- From here, you can increase the quantity of the products by tapping the number found to the far right of each product
🤔 How to Compare Items Between Grocers
- Additionally view the different totals if you decide to mix your shopping, strictly go to coles, or strictly go to woolies
🔎 How to Search for Products
General Search:
- In order to search for products, users can search directly from the search bar found on the home page
- Tapping on the search bar opens the entire search page where users can enter any product
- After a product entered all products that fit the entry will appear
- The products display a button with a plus and one with a heart
- Clicking the plus allows users to add the item directly to a list
- Clicking the heart allows users to favourite the item
- Users are also able to sort products from cheap to expensinve and vice versa utilising the sorting bar found at the bottom of the search page
- Tap the specials button connected to the sorting button in order to only see items on special related to your original search
- If you're unsure of what to search, tap the filters below the search bar to search via category
Specials Search:
- To utilise the specials specific search, tap the percentage icon in the middle of the bottom navigation
- This area functions similairly to the general search, however everything here by default, is on special
📷 How to Scan Product Barcodes
- Tap the scanning icon in the bottom right hand side of the navigation
- Once tapped, it'll open a camera view that has designated space to place the barcode of the product within
- Once the barcode is scanned we open the product information modal which will show pricing, comparisons and nutritional information

🥗 How to View Nutritional & General Product Information
- Tapping on an item directly or scanning an item will open the product information sheet
- The product information sheet shows price comparisons, it allows you to favourite items, you can add the item to a list, and see nutritional information
🔔 How to Setup Notifications
- Have favourited items
- Enable notifications in the profile section of ShopAround settings
- Enable notifications in your device settings
