Starting Wednesday, nearly 400 popular grocery items will see an average price drop of 10%, with discounted prices locked in until 2026.
As winter approaches, Woolworths has announced a significant price reduction on close to 400 essential products in a move aimed at helping Australians manage the rising cost of living. Shoppers can expect to see price cuts on everyday staples such as chicken schnitzel, Greek yoghurt, frozen berries, flour, bread, rice, and nappies.
According to the supermarket giant, a typical family spending $150 per week could save around $15 under the new pricing structure.
Woolworths CEO Amanda Bardwell described the initiative as a long-term strategy rather than a temporary promotion.
“This isn’t just a short-term promotion - it’s a long-term commitment to providing real, consistent value for our customers,” Bardwell said.
She added that the company specifically targeted household favourites and daily essentials, noting that while each individual discount might seem modest, the cumulative savings will be significant for families doing regular grocery runs.
The decision comes in response to customer feedback, with many Australians expressing a need for more value in their weekly shop. The updated pricing will take effect on Wednesday, May 14, and is expected to remain in place through to next year.
