Woolworths Trims Rewards - and Shoppers Aren’t Exactly Rewarding the News

Woolworths has ruffled feathers among its Everyday Rewards members by cutting a second key benefit in just two weeks - and let’s just say, shoppers are not quietly nodding in agreement.

From June 1, Delivery Unlimited subscribers will no longer receive double Everyday Rewards points. That means fewer points racking up for those who signed up for the $15-per-month service expecting both convenience and extra perks.

Wait, what’s Delivery Unlimited again?

It’s Woolies’ subscription service offering free delivery on same-day or next-day orders over $75. A pretty handy deal for regular online shoppers - and until now, it came with a nice side of double points.

The supermarket quietly emailed customers about the change, but the backlash was anything but quiet. Frustrated members quickly took to social media to voice their disappointment. One particularly unimpressed shopper shared, “I signed up for a one-year subscription just for this - and now they’re taking it away? Plus the Big W discount? What a joke.”

So what’s left in the cart?

Woolworths insists Delivery Unlimited still offers solid value. In place of the double points, subscribers will get three months of complimentary Direct to Boot Now - a service that allows pickup in under 60 minutes (normally $5 per order). According to a Woolworths spokesperson, it’s part of “streamlining” the service to focus on speedy delivery and convenience.

Still, not everyone’s buying it - literally.

And about that Big W discount…

Yep, the changes don’t stop there. Starting June 1, Everyday Extra subscribers will also lose their 10% monthly discount at Big W. That’s two perks gone in a fortnight, and plenty of customers aren’t shy about their thoughts.

“I’ve just cancelled my subscription,” one shopper wrote online. “Second cut in benefits this year, but the price stays the same.”

Another added, “Woolworths are definitely making the program work more for them than us now. Might be time to check out Coles.”

So what now?

For many families — especially those relying on loyalty perks to ease the grocery bill — the timing couldn’t be worse. With winter holidays and back-to-school spending looming, every discount counts.

Woolworths maintains that its rewards programs still offer value, but with fewer bonuses and unchanged subscription fees, some shoppers are questioning whether it’s worth sticking around.

Woolies may be streamlining, but shoppers are watching their benefits disappear faster than half-price chocolate in aisle 3. And if more perks vanish, loyalty might too.
